New for 2010Previously the maximum distance match and pleasure anglers were capable of reaching with stepped up long-range feeder rods was around 80 to 100 metres.
Hardy took a close look at the rods available and decided most were over stiff and top heavy, also lacking fish playing action and often struggled to reach the 90 metre mark.
There was also the problem of spotting bites at extreme range. Fibreglass quivertips don't show up delicate indications beyond 70 metres very well, while solid carbon quivertips are too brittle for casting heavily weighted feeders to the horizon.
After extensive research and field testing we came up with a blend of high modulus carbons that created a beautifully balanced 13ft blank, absolutely oozing with progressive power and yet still retaining a forgiving action when put under pressure.
Coupled with this breakthrough, we developed carbon quivertips with hollow cores, which provided improved radial strength and highlighted extreme range indications far better than solid carbon or fibreglass versions.
The result is probably the best long-range feeder rod ever designed! Combined with base weight groundbait feeders or method designs, the Hardy Marksman Extreme 13ft Feeder rod can easily outdistance its rivals!
It's ideal for extreme range bream fishing with braid, combined with open-end or base weight groundbait feeders, also coping admirably with launching out method feeders for big fish like carp.
Another bonus is this rod is equally at home casting weighty feeders on rivers, particularly when targeting specimen sized fish, or using base weight blockends aimed at far bank features.
